Energy and Industrial Solutions
Equvora Management Consultancy Services (EMCS) provides energy infrastructure advisory, technical procurement, and strategic supply chain solutions for power generation, transmission, and industrial energy users across multiple markets.
What EMCS Offers
- Power generation, transmission, and distribution project advisory
- State and regional-level embedded generation and mini-grid project structuring
- Technical procurement for gas supply and metering infrastructure
- Industrial equipment sourcing and engineering advisory
- Strategic supply chain solutions for energy projects
Industry Snapshot
In many emerging power markets, installed generation capacity rarely translates fully into delivered supply, the core bottleneck is typically transmission and distribution, not generation. Large unserved or under-served populations, high distribution losses, and persistent gas-supply and metering constraints are recurring features of the sector globally.
Case in point, Nigeria: installed capacity of roughly 13,000-15,000 MW rarely translates into delivered supply above 5,000-5,500 MW, with more than 10,000 MW effectively stranded by transmission and distribution constraints; an estimated 85 million people, about 43% of the population still lack access to grid electricity.
Challenges and Industry Gaps
- The core bottleneck is transmission and distribution, not generation, capacity additions alone will not fix reliability
- Distribution losses running well above regulatory targets in a number of jurisdictions, undermining the revenue base needed to attract further investment
- Persistent gas supply constraints and metering gaps that weaken commercial viability across the value chain
- Large unserved populations, often concentrated outside the areas where existing grid investment is focused
How do We fill the gap
- Target transmission, distribution, and metering advisory specifically, the documented bottleneck rather than adding to already-underutilised generation capacity
- Structure state and regional-level embedded generation and mini-grid projects, drawing on decentralisation reforms wherever they create the opening
- Provide technical procurement for metering and gas-supply infrastructure to address the commercial-viability gap driving underinvestment
